Main properties and characteristics
of Silicone Rubber
The silicones of group VMQ (Rubber,vinyl-methy-Siloxane) posses great stability at high and low temperatures (-50/+250°C). We can deliver special types for HIGH TEMPERATURES (THT), 315°C peaks and 250°C continually under dry heat.
These conditions could be altered if other outside agents concur such as pressure, certain fluids H20- steam, etc.
We have also available other special silicones for greater resis- tance at low temperatures (dow to -90°C, "PVMQ" Types Phenly-Vinyli-Siloxane). |

- Outsandig outdoor stability (sili- cone vulcanizates are highly resistant to ozone, oxigen, UVand cosmic rays and to all atmospheric agents).
- Unaqualled physical properties in comparision with other elastomers.
Transformed products made from SILICONES homologated for Heath -Care and food-contact applications and correctly transformed and treated (adequate POST-CURE during no less than 10 hours at
200º C in special INOX ovens), are physically inert, nonsmelling and tasteless. Web have special POLYADDITION SILICONE types available, commonly called "PLA- TINUM BASE", that have the property of being TOTALLY FREE FROM ORGANIC PEROXIDES and for this reason are especially fit for use in Health-Care and Food Contact industries. Web have the "BIOCOMPATIBILITY TEST" and homologation certificate from the FDA BgVV and UNITED STATES PHARMACOPEIA (USPVI).
- Excellent DIELECTRIC properties: the dielectric properties of SILICONE fabricates stand at the level of the best elastic isolating materials, with the great advantage that SILICONE products retain these properties even at temperatures ranging from -40ºC to 180ºC.
- Good perfomance in the presence of many avarage chemicals (please, enquire in every particular case). perfomance depending on other external factors in contact (temperature, pressure, etc.) With H20 steam over 130ºC, other special H20 steam high resistant
types must be used. There are also special compounds for a higher resistance to oils, gas and aggressive chemicals "FLUOR-SILICONE" must be used, which substantially improves resistance to many chemicals.
- Mechanically, the best performing SILICONE vulcanizates range from 50º to 60º Shore A hardness. The mechanical properties have a remarkably low dependence on temperature.
The resilience is specially high and it hardly varies at different temperatures. In the hardness range from 30º to 80º Shore A deformation after compression in extreemely low, although it depends to a great extent on the test conditions. abrasion resistance, resilience and mechanical properties in general are, at high temperatures, above the levels of organic elastomers. Notwithstanding, we have several Silicone types available that represent a great improvement on certain specific aspects of the mentioned conditions, accordingto application requirements. So, we have special types with a HIGH
TEAR STRENGHT, HIGH RESI- LIENCE, HIGH ABRASION RESISTANCE, etc.
- Transformed SILICONE products have the property of not adhering to sticky surfaces. In principale, Silicone is non-adherent and water repellent. Notwithstanding we have special adhesives available to bind tightly Silicone unto itself, to metal plastic, etc.
